Profit / Loss Calculator — Frequently Asked Questions

Q.How do I calculate profit on a forex trade?

Forex P&L = (Exit Price − Entry Price) × Lot Size × Contract Size. For EUR/USD: if you buy 1 standard lot at 1.1000 and close at 1.1050, profit = 0.0050 × 100,000 = $500.

Q.How is stock trade profit calculated?

Stock profit = (Sell Price − Buy Price) × Number of Shares. E.g. buying 100 shares at $50 and selling at $55 = ($55 − $50) × 100 = $500 profit (before commissions).

Q.Can I calculate P&L for short trades?

Yes. For short positions, profit is made when price falls. Simply enter your short entry price as the "entry" and your cover price as "exit" — the calculator handles the direction automatically.

Q.Does the calculator account for swap/overnight fees?

Currently the calculator shows gross P&L. For net P&L, you would need to subtract your broker's spread and any overnight swap fees, which vary by broker and pair.
