Why Use the Consistency Calculator?

Prop firms check consistency before every payout — and a single outlier day can fail your account even after weeks of solid trading. Checking your consistency score throughout your challenge prevents discovering a violation only when you request withdrawal. Track it weekly so you always know where you stand.

Consistency Score = (Best Day Profit ÷ Total Profit) × 100

Total profits during evaluation = $4,200. Best single day = $1,500. Consistency score = $1,500 ÷ $4,200 × 100 = 35.7%. With a 30% consistency rule, you fail. Fix: earn $2,833 more in steady daily profits (no single day above $500) to raise total above $10,000. At that level, $1,500 best day ÷ $10,000 total = 15% — well within the rule.

How to Use the Consistency Calculator — Step by Step

  1. 1

    Enter your total profit

Input the total profit you have made during the prop firm challenge or evaluation period in dollars.

  2. 2

Enter your best single day profit

Input the profit from your single most profitable trading day during the same period.

  3. 3

    Set the consistency limit

Enter the maximum percentage your prop firm allows for a single day (usually 30–50%). Check your specific firm's rules.

  4. 4

    Read your consistency score

The calculator shows your consistency score and tells you if you pass or fail the rule. Green = compliant, Red = your best day is too large a share of profits.

What Your Consistency Calculator Results Mean

Consistency Score %

Your best single day's profit expressed as a percentage of total profits. Keep this below your prop firm's threshold (typically 30–50%) to maintain payout eligibility.

Pass / Fail Status

A clear indication of whether you currently meet or violate the consistency rule based on your entered threshold percentage. Check this before requesting any payout.

Additional Profit Needed

If failing, the exact amount of additional profit you need to earn to bring your best day into compliance — calculated as Best Day ÷ Consistency % minus current total profits.

Consistency Calculator — Frequently Asked Questions

Q.What is the consistency rule in prop firm trading?

Most prop firms require that your single best trading day does not exceed 30–50% of your total profits. This prevents traders from passing a challenge by having one lucky day and losing money on all other days. It ensures your profitability comes from consistent, repeatable performance.

Q.What consistency percentage do prop firms use?

It varies by firm. FTMO uses a 30% rule for some accounts. MyForexFunds uses 40–50%. The Funded Trader uses 30%. Always check your specific firm's terms — this calculator lets you set your own limit to match any firm's rules.

Q.What happens if I fail the consistency rule?

Failing the consistency rule typically means you will not receive your payout or will be asked to continue trading until your overall performance becomes more balanced. Some firms will disqualify your account entirely. Always check consistency before requesting a withdrawal.

Q.How do I improve my consistency score?

Take smaller positions on high-conviction days so no single day dominates your P&L. Aim for similar profit targets each day. Avoid "revenge trading" or oversizing after a good day. A consistent equity curve with similar daily returns is the goal of professional prop trading.

Q.What is the FTMO consistency rule and how does it work?

FTMO's consistency rule requires that your single best trading day does not exceed a set percentage of your total profits. Typically, no single day should account for more than 40–50% of your total profit across the evaluation. This prevents traders from making one lucky large trade and withdrawing — it proves consistent skill. Use this calculator to check if your best day violates the rule before requesting payout.
